International scholars explore the meaning of Christian witness in the comtemporary world. Beyond every other form of proclamation, living witness is the most powerful medium of the gospel message. The meaning of witness has always carried special weight in the example of the martyrs, and this volume is inspired by the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador. But as the contributors demonstrate the implications of witness extend in many ways to pedagogy, the role of narrative in theology, spirituality, intercultural dialogue, and politics.
